We are looking for a motivated Senior Engineering Technician who will provide leadership support to our engineering and environmental professionals to join our team in our Freeport, Illinois, office. We are interested in talented, trustworthy and skilled people who are passionate about providing personalized attention to our clients.
What you'll doYou will complete hands-on field and office work to help the firm advance projects. You must have substantial knowledge and expertise with engineering designs, drawing creation, sample collection and construction observation because you will be expected to interpret the most complex drawings, plans and specifications. When you are at construction sites, you'll be expected to assess work, record activities and quantities, verify materials, ensure plans are followed and conduct environmental sampling. You will also support, manage and teach entry-level technicians in the field. When you are in the office, you will create drawings by hand or using computer-aided design. You may also plan and conduct a complete project scope or portion of a more diverse or larger project. You will also prepare calculations, summary sheets and data.
We promote a team environment, so you'll learn from fellow technicians and staff engineers, project engineers, environmental scientists and project managers. You'll maintain field and office equipment, too. And you'll develop leadership skills that build autonomy.
We should mention the workweek will exceed 40 hours, especially during construction season.
What it takesAn associate degree in Surveying Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology or Construction Technology and 10 years of experience are a must. A valid driver's license is required. You should speak and write well. And you should have strong analytical and organizational skills. You must be a team player.
